Custom Software

When Off-the-Shelf Software Stops Working for Your Business

The clearest sign is not frustration with the software. It is the spreadsheet your team keeps on the side because the software does not quite fit.

Workarounds are a signal

Every business runs two systems: the official one and the real one. When staff export data to fix it elsewhere, track statuses in personal notes, or maintain a parallel sheet 'just for our team', the tool is no longer supporting the process — the process is supporting the tool.

Paying to fight your own process

Generic software makes you run the business its way. That is fine while your process is ordinary. It becomes expensive when the way you work is part of why customers choose you — and you are paying licence fees for the privilege of bending that advantage out of shape.

Every business runs two systems: the official one and the real one.

Custom does not mean enormous

Custom software can be one small, sharp system that does exactly your workflow and nothing else. Start with the bottleneck — the handover, approval or report that eats the week — and build only that. A focused build costs less than a platform dream and proves its value in months, not years.

A fair test

Add up the hours your team loses each week to workarounds, double-entry and chasing information the system should already know. Multiply by fifty weeks. If that number stings, a conversation about custom software has already paid for itself.
